Mortal Shell II launches worldwide on PC and consoles

Mortal Shell II, the dark fantasy action RPG developed by Cold Symmetry and published by Playstack, has officially launched worldwide on August 20, 2026. The game is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.

As a sequel to the 2020 original, the title features an expanded, interconnected open world and an improved combat system. A notable mechanical change is the removal of the traditional stamina bar, allowing for more fluid, tactical encounters. Players control the ‘Harbinger’ and can inhabit eight different ‘Shells’—the bodies of fallen warriors—each offering unique abilities and combat styles.

Critical reception has been largely positive, with Metacritic scores reaching 80-84. Reviewers have noted significant improvements over the first game in terms of scale, polish, and accessibility, drawing comparisons to the scope of Elden Ring while maintaining the series' signature dark, cosmic horror atmosphere.
