Mortal Sin announces 2027 release plans including Metallica support recording
Australian thrash metal band Mortal Sin is planning several releases for 2027, including a best-of compilation and a live album. Vocalist Mat Maurer revealed that the band intends to select three or four songs from each of their previous albums for a vinyl best-of collection.
In addition to the compilation, the band plans to release a live recording from their 2026 Keep It True festival set in Germany. Maurer also mentioned the existence of a high-quality desk tape from a 1989 Melbourne performance where the band supported Metallica, which may be released from the archives.
These upcoming projects are intended to provide the group with time to focus on songwriting. While a new studio album has been discussed loosely, the band is currently prioritizing these archival and compilation releases as they continue their return to touring.
