Paying off a mortgage does not automatically remove the lien from a property. Homeowners must complete specific legal procedures to ensure the property is formally cleared of debt. For bank mortgages, owners must request a mortgage cancellation letter from the financial institution and present it to a notary to generate a new deed without encumbrances.

In the case of Infonavit credits, workers may also be entitled to refunds. This occurs if an employer continues to deduct payments from a payroll after the credit has been settled, or if the worker made excess payments. To claim these funds, workers should check their status via 'Mi Cuenta Infonavit' to see if a balance in favor is listed. Refunds can be requested online if the user has an electronic signature, or through Infonatel and service centers.
