Mossad Director Roman Gofman Meets US Officials in Washington Ahead of Iran Operations

Israel’s newly appointed Mossad chief Roman Gofman made a covert trip to Washington in late June, meeting CIA Director John Ratcliffe and senior White House officials. According to two well‑placed sources cited by Axios, the discussions focused on the ongoing Iran‑Israel war, Tehran’s nuclear programme and coordination of forthcoming U.S. air strikes against Iran. The visit, Gofman’s first official trip to the United States since taking charge in June, occurred roughly two weeks before the U.S. launched new air attacks on Iranian targets on 8 July, following an earlier escalation that began with the 14 June Islamabad Accord. Sources said Gofman also conveyed Israeli intelligence on the “Pickaxe Mountain” underground facility in Iran. Neither Mossad nor the CIA has issued a comment on the meetings.

The timing underscores close intelligence cooperation between Jerusalem and Washington as both nations confront Tehran’s nuclear ambitions and regional security challenges.
