Mosaic halts fertilizer operations in Brazil amid sulfur shortages

Mosaic Fertilizantes has begun halting or reducing operations across various Brazilian states due to low demand and a global shortage of sulfur. The company cited rising raw material costs and geopolitical tensions in the Middle East as primary drivers for these temporary measures.

Labor impacts are being reported across multiple regions. In Minas Gerais, the suspension of activities in Araxá and Patrocínio is projected to result in up to 1,200 job cuts. In Goiás, the Catalão unit reportedly dismissed approximately 650 employees following production interruptions. The company maintains that these adjustments are temporary and do not alter its long-term strategy in Brazil.
