Moscow airports temporarily suspended due to Ukrainian drones
Four major airports in Moscow—Sheremetyevo, Vnukovo, Domodedovo, and Zhukovsky—temporarily suspended all flight operations on Sunday evening due to approaching Ukrainian drones. The aviation regulator, Rosaviatsia, reported the disruptions, which forced at least 25 arriving aircraft to be diverted to other locations.
Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin stated that at least 23 Ukrainian drones were shot down before reaching the city. However, it remains unclear whether any drones bypassed air defenses or caused physical damage. The drone activity also caused temporary flight suspensions in the cities of Kostroma and Yaroslavl, located northeast of the capital.
The alert was lifted later that evening, and flight operations resumed. This incident follows a pattern of Ukrainian drone strikes targeting military and energy infrastructure deep within Russian territory.
