Moscow Exchange launches crypto perpetual futures

The Moscow Exchange has launched crypto perpetual futures contracts, marking a significant expansion of Russia’s regulated digital asset market. The new products allow qualified investors to gain price exposure to five major cryptocurrencies—Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, XRP, and Tron—without requiring the direct ownership or delivery of the underlying assets.

These derivatives are quoted in U.S. dollars but are settled in Russian rubles. The move follows the passage of the Crypto Clarity Act. While the new contracts target qualified investors, retail crypto buyers in Russia remain subject to an annual transaction cap of approximately $3,700.

Market data indicates existing demand for crypto-related products on the exchange, with over 72,000 qualified investors previously generating a turnover exceeding $7.17 billion in related trading.
