Tokyo Game Show 2026 highlights 3D creator economy and international market expansion
At Tokyo Game Show 2026, several key developments in the gaming and digital creator sectors were highlighted. Pixiv Inc. and VRChat Inc. showcased their capital and business alliance, focusing on the growth of the 3D creator economy. Discussions centered on the impact of tools like VRoid Studio, which has reached 15.5 million downloads, in lowering the barrier for 3D character creation and fostering a ecosystem of creators and users.
Representing the Moscow Game Hub, Anastasia Rybukina announced that two-thirds of the games presented by the Russian video game and animation cluster were localized into Japanese. This strategic move aims to penetrate the Japanese market, the world's third-largest gaming market. The cluster, which includes 70 companies, held over 200 meetings with publishers and distributors during the event.
Additionally, the upcoming title ‘Moomin: Moominvalley Summer Festival’ by Crossbridge Game Studios was featured. The point-and-click adventure game aims to stay faithful to Tove Jansson’s original works, utilizing hand-drawn art to recreate the aesthetic of the classic books.
