Moscow restaurant bombing injures daughter of Russian General Aleksandr Chayka

An explosion occurred on 2 August 2026 at the Italian restaurant Balzi Rossi in Moscow during a private gathering of about 50 guests. The blast, suspected to be an attack aimed at General Aleksandr Chayka – head of Russia's Aerospace Forces – killed three people: a restaurant guest, his bodyguard and a woman who tried to bring a bomb into the building. Twenty‑one others were injured, with later reports raising the death toll to five.

Unconfirmed Russian media reports indicate that Maria Chayka, the 25‑year‑old daughter of General Chayka, was among the injured, suffering an open head wound. Her current condition has not been disclosed.
