Moscow restaurant explosion kills Russian aerospace chief Aleksandr Ceaiko

On 1 August, an improvised explosive device hidden in a gift detonated at the Balzi Rossi restaurant in central Moscow, killing several people. Russian authorities said a woman attempted to bring the device into a private event, was stopped by a security guard, and the bomb exploded. Among the dead were Daniil Peredrii, identified as the son‑in‑law of Lieutenant‑General Aleksandr Ceaiko, commander of Russia’s Aerospace Forces, and later reports indicated Ceaiko himself may have been among the victims.

Subsequent Russian media reported that two graves were being prepared at the Troekurovski elite cemetery, one allegedly for General Ceaiko, linking the burial plans to the restaurant blast. The investigation into the attack remains ongoing.
