One woman was briefly detained on July 24 while protesting a new bill that would let Russian regions strip sites of official heritage status. Real‑estate firm Etalon Group says it intends to preserve the factory’s facades and historic features while integrating them into a modern urban environment, a claim met with scepticism from historians such as Inna Krylova, who notes the plant once employed about 23,000 workers.
