Mosel Valley highlights historical sites and upcoming wine festival

The Mosel region in Germany is highlighting its cultural and viticultural attractions through historical landmarks and upcoming seasonal events. In Cochem, the Reichsburg castle stands as a prominent landmark, featuring Neo-Gothic architecture and offering guided tours through its knight's hall and dining rooms. Additionally, the area features a former Bundesbank bunker in the Cond district, which served as a Cold War-era storage facility for billions of Deutsche Marks and is now open to visitors.

In Bernkastel-Kues, the Middle Mosel Wine Festival is scheduled to take place from September 3 to 7. The event will center around the traditional 'Weinstraße' near the old town, featuring approximately two dozen wine stalls. This year's festival marks the first time two established local wineries, Gerber Erben and Witwe Dr. H. Thanisch-Erben, will host their own stands on the wine street to offer various Riesling selections.
