Moselle: Couple arrested after 1,000-liter fuel theft at Intermarché

A massive fuel theft occurred at an Intermarché service station in Courcelles-Chaussy, Moselle, during the night of Tuesday to Wednesday. Approximately 1,000 liters of fuel were siphoned from the underground storage tanks.

The station manager was alerted by an electronic alarm and used surveillance footage to observe two individuals and a vehicle near the tank access hatches. Following the discovery, gendarmes arrived on the scene and arrested a 52-year-old man and a 44-year-old woman near the installations.

The theft forced the temporary closure of the station for precautionary reasons, leaving local motorists without service. Witnesses noted the scale of the operation, remarking that the volume of fuel stolen would likely require a truck for transport.
