Moselle river incidents prompt police investigations in France

Two separate incidents involving bodies in the Moselle river have prompted investigations by the gendarmerie in the Moselle department of France.

In Talange, a 61-year-old fisherman who cannot swim was pushed into a canal by three adolescents, aged 12 to 13, following a dispute over a fishing rod. A bystander rescued the man from the water. The Maizières-lès-Metz territorial brigade has opened an investigation into voluntary violence.

In La Maxe, a fisherman discovered a lifeless body in the Moselle river on September 24. Authorities are investigating the circumstances of the death. Preliminary indications suggest the body may belong to a man in his seventies from Metz who had been missing since August 31, though the prosecutor's office stated that autopsy and DNA results are required to confirm the identity.
