Moses Itauma scheduled for January boxing return

Heavyweight boxer Moses Itauma is scheduled to return to the ring in January following his first career defeat. The 21-year-old suffered a ninth-round stoppage loss to Filip Hrgovic in August, a bout in which Hrgovic claimed the vacant IBF world title.

Queensberry Promotions head Frank Warren stated that Itauma will face a well-known opponent in his comeback fight to rebuild his standing in the division. Warren is planning a series of heavyweight matchups for next year involving fighters such as Daniel Dubois, Fabio Wardley, Filip Hrgovic, and Agit Kabayel to determine the top contender for the four major belts.

While a rematch with Hrgovic was considered, it was not possible due to Hrgovic’s upcoming bout with Frank Sanchez. Warren emphasized the intent to keep Itauma active and integrated into the heavyweight landscape throughout the coming year.
