Moses Itauma Set for IBF Heavyweight Title Fight Amid WBA Ranking Clarification

Moses Itauma and Filip Hrgovic will contest the vacant IBF heavyweight championship on August 29 at London’s O2 Arena. The bout, upgraded to a world‑title fight, will crown the winner as the new IBF champion, with Frank Sanchez, the organization’s No. 1 contender, having stepped aside to allow the contest. Itauma, 21, earned the opportunity after a rapid rise in the heavyweight ranks, while Hrgovic brings years of experience from previous eliminators.

Separately, the World Boxing Association admitted a mistake in its July heavyweight rankings that had incorrectly listed Jarrell Miller as the mandatory challenger. The WBA confirmed that Moses Itauma remains the sole official mandatory challenger for its titles, clearing up confusion and reaffirming his position in the division’s championship picture.
