Moses Wetang’ula alleges MPs are selling TSC job letters

National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula has sparked controversy by alleging that some Members of Parliament are selling Teachers Service Commission (TSC) employment letters for as much as KSh400,000.

Speaking in Bungoma, Wetang’ula claimed that President William Ruto provides individual MPs with up to ten TSC appointment letters each at State House to assist their constituents. The Speaker alleged that instead of facilitating employment for deserving candidates, some legislators have turned these appointments into a commercial enterprise by selling them to desperate job seekers.

The disclosure has raised significant questions regarding the independence of the TSC, which is constitutionally mandated to manage teacher recruitment. Critics suggest the process described indicates that public-sector employment is being channeled through political networks at State House rather than through merit-based, competitive procedures.
