Mossoró celebrates centenary of Dom Heitor de Araújo Sales

Commemorations are underway in Mossoró to celebrate the centenary of Dom Heitor de Araújo Sales, the emeritus Archbishop of Natal. The events, scheduled for August 20, include a thanksgiving mass at the Cathedral of Santa Luzia presided over by Archbishop Dom João Santos Cardoso and Bishop Dom Francisco de Sales Alencar Batista.

As part of the tribute, the Mossoró City Council will honor his contributions to the Church and society. The celebration also features the launch of the book ‘Na unidade, na paz, na alegria – Dom Heitor 100 anos’, written by Adriano de Sousa. The work documents his life from his priestly ordination in 1950 through his leadership in various dioceses and his tenure as Archbishop of Natal.
