Most city center revitalization plan focuses on sports and architecture

A Swedish-Czech team has won a competition to revitalize the center of Most, focusing on a long-term concept to increase community activity and urban attractiveness. The winning proposal is built on three pillars: modernist icons, sports, and new energy.

The plan aims to leverage the city’s unique post-war modernist architecture by treating key buildings as solitary structures in open spaces and opening their ground floors to the public. To foster social connection across generations, the design includes multifunctional courts, a boulder wall, running tracks, and safe cycling paths connecting the center to the Šibeník forest park.

The jury praised the proposal for its practicality and phased approach. Rather than demanding massive immediate investments, the plan suggests starting with smaller, financially accessible interventions in the area between the town hall, Prior, Repre, and Cascade to build public trust in the transformation.
