Most court reviews parole request for life prisoner Zdeněk Vocásek
The District Court in Most is reviewing a request for parole from Zdeněk Vocásek (now Navrátil), a convicted murderer who has been imprisoned for nearly 40 years. While a lower court previously granted his request for conditional release last year, the decision was overturned by a regional court following an appeal by the state prosecutor.
The prosecutor argues that Vocásek has failed to meet legal requirements, specifically regarding proof of rehabilitation and a prognosis for leading a law-abiding life. Recent reports from the Bělušice prison, where he is serving his life sentence, suggest a continued risk of recidivism. Prison psychologists have noted that the inmate refuses to admit his failures and shows no remorse for his victims. The court has ordered additional expert psychiatric and psychological assessments to assist in the decision-making process.
