Most to establish natural cemetery with biodegradable urns

The city of Most is establishing a natural cemetery at the Kostelní cemetery. Under this new arrangement, cremated remains will be placed in biodegradable urns near the roots of trees to ensure the memorial space remains in harmony with the surrounding landscape.

The project, which includes an ceremonial gazebo and barrier-free paths, was approved by city councilors following a successful participatory budgeting process. The proposal, submitted by Eva Karabasilová, received the third-highest number of votes among 11 competing projects.

Technical services in Most will begin preparations for the site this year, with total costs estimated at nearly ten million CZK. This initiative provides a new alternative for residents, who previously could only choose traditional graves, columbaria, or scattering remains in a meadow.
