Mostar court sentences man to 27 years for fatal robbery

The Cantonal Court in Mostar has issued a first-instance verdict against Faton Bahtiri and Emir Omanović for robbery and other criminal offenses committed in July 2025 in Ortiješ. Faton Bahtiri was sentenced to 27 years in prison, while Omanović received a sentence of two years and six months.

According to the court ruling, the defendants entered a home during the night of July 28 and 29, 2025, and physically attacked two men. One victim was tied up and held in a vehicle while his watch and mobile phone were stolen. The second victim, an 80-year-old man, was struck multiple times in the head with a hard object. He sustained life-threatening injuries and later died at the “Dr. Safet Mujić” hospital in Mostar. The attackers also stole mobile phones and two gold rings valued at several thousand KM.

A third participant, Ramiz Bahtiri, remains at large, and a warrant has been issued for his arrest. The verdict is not final, and the parties involved have the right to appeal.
