Mostar hosts premiere of documentary film about Trusina massacre
The documentary film “Bila jednom Trusina” (Once Upon a Time in Trusina) premiered in Mostar under the patronage of the Croatian National Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The film features testimonies from survivors regarding the events of April 16, 1993, in Trusina, when members of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina killed 23 Croatian civilians and members of the Croatian Defence Council.
Darijana Filipović, a member of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina and elected Croatian member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, attended the event. She emphasized the importance of preserving history and truth without allowing it to turn into hatred. Marinko Romić, a retired brigadier and president of the HVO Herceg Stjepan Brigade Veterans Association, also spoke about the circumstances of the killings and the ongoing impact on victims' families.
The film is part of a series titled “Digitalni žrtvoslov hrvatskoga naroda u Bosni i Hercegovini” (Digital Martyrology of the Croatian People in Bosnia and Herzegovina), which aims to document the suffering of Catholic Croats during the war. Director Matija Ricov stated that the project's goal is to preserve survivor testimonies and share these experiences with younger generations.
