Mostar Mayor welcomes reinstatement of dismissed JP Komunalno workers
The Supervisory Board of the public utility company JP Komunalno d. o. o. Mostar has decided to reinstate a portion of the workers who were previously dismissed. Mostar Mayor Mario Kordić welcomed the decision, describing it as a vital step toward stabilizing relations within the company.
Kordić stated that the truth must take precedence over political interests or individual agendas. He noted that an increasing number of employees have provided written statements detailing the circumstances under which they were forced to sign documents refusing work orders. The Mayor called for a thorough investigation into allegations of coercion and pressure exerted on staff.
The crisis at the utility company began when management issued mass terminations, citing the obstruction of work and refusal to perform tasks. Conversely, labor unions and dismissed employees have maintained that the terminations were illegal and tied to political pressure and the struggle for workers' rights. Kordić emphasized that the city must protect those who speak out and ensure that the company serves the citizens of Mostar rather than political groups.
