Mostar Muftijstvo condemns hate-symbol vandalism in Livno, Bosnia and Herzegovina

The Mostar Muftijstvo issued a strong condemnation of recent vandalism in the town of Livno, where Ustaša symbols were painted on the historic Firdus mausoleum, at the well‑known Duman spring and at least nine other locations. The acts also included the recent tearing and burning of Bosnian‑Herzegovinian flags on a sports field in Golinjevo.

The religious authority called on the Bosnia‑Herzegovina Ministry of Interior and the competent prosecution office to launch a prompt, thorough investigation, identify those responsible and prosecute them under the law. It warned that defiling sacred Muslim sites and displaying fascist symbols disrespects the deceased, their families and the wider faithful, fuels unrest, and must be met with a decisive societal response against extremism and intolerance.
