Mostar mayor Mario Kordić addresses JP Komunalno dismissals

Mayor Mario Kordić of Mostar announced that he will hold individual meetings with each of the 22 employees dismissed from the municipal utility JP Komunalno. He stressed that every case will be examined separately, saying “svaka osoba će biti saslušana, a svaki će slučaj biti razmatran pojedinačno” and rejecting any notion of collective responsibility. Kordić also warned that workers should feel free to report any pressure or manipulation they experienced during the termination process.

City council president Danijel Rahimić reiterated that the dismissals were based on serious breaches of work obligations, not on ethnicity, and that the legal authorities will decide on the inspection findings. JP Komunalno director Senkić explained that the non‑renewal of contracts for 14 oper‑technical staff was driven by staffing shortages and that a new recruitment drive has been launched. The cantonal inspection had previously ordered the reinstatement of some dismissed Bosniak workers. A former employee wrote to the director asking for protection from alleged pressure, adding to the scrutiny of the utility’s labor practices.
