Mostar students plant 64 saplings across 17 locations

To mark United Nations Day, the Mostar City Sports Association organized the ‘Shade Under the Same Tree’ project. Approximately 200 students participated in planting 64 saplings, including Japanese cherry, tamarisk, and Russian olive, across 17 different locations in Mostar.

The planting sites include schoolyards and spaces belonging to institutions and associations that care for children and youth with developmental disabilities. The 17 locations symbolically represent the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, specifically highlighting Goal 17 regarding partnerships.

The initiative was part of the ‘Ideas for the Future’ innovation challenge under the United Nations ‘Dialogue for the Future 3’ project, implemented by UNDP, UNICEF, and UNESCO. The project is funded by the UN Peacebuilding Fund and involves partnerships with the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Ministry of Civil Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
