Azerbaijan strengthens strategic ties with Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan
Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan are significantly strengthening their strategic and economic ties. The IV Uzbekistan–Azerbaijan Interregional Forum, held in Tashkent, brought together approximately 400 companies from various sectors including heavy industry, agriculture, and energy to discuss joint projects and expand cooperation. A key focus of this partnership is the development of the Middle Corridor to enhance regional connectivity.
Economic indicators reflect this growing relationship, with bilateral trade between the two nations reaching $795 million in 2025. To facilitate further growth, an investment company with $500 million in capital has been established to finance joint ventures. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev is scheduled to conduct a state visit to Uzbekistan on August 23-24 to further consolidate these ties.
In a separate development, Azerbaijan and Kyrgyzstan have signed a Treaty on Allied Relations. This agreement, finalized during a state visit to Kyrgyzstan, aims to establish a higher level of political trust and strategic cooperation, particularly in the areas of transport, logistics, and energy.
