Mostra de Teatro Águas de Manaus launches with performances and workshops

The 2nd Mostra de Teatro Águas de Manaus (MTAM) has commenced in Manaus, Brazil, featuring a mix of professional performances and educational workshops. The festival opened with the award-winning production ‘Tom na Fazenda’ at the Teatro Amazonas. Directed by Rodrigo Portella and starring Armando Babaioff, the play is based on the work of Canadian playwright Michel Marc Bouchard and has toured internationally, including stops in Canada, France, and the United Kingdom.

In addition to performances, the festival is hosting several free training workshops on August 12 and 13. These sessions are designed for artists, students, and cultural professionals. Topics include poetic audio description for cultural accessibility, led by the Federação de Teatro do Amazonas (FETAM), and creative processes and cast preparation led by the Pernambuco-based group Magiluth. Other sessions will discuss the international circulation of Brazilian theater.
