Fortaleza hosts Latin American Cinema and Social Impact Forum

Fortaleza is hosting the fourth edition of the Latin American Cinema and Social Impact Forum, bringing together representatives from Brazil and eight other Latin American nations. Organized by NGOs including Ambulante, Impacta Cine, NodoSur, and Taturana, the event focuses on film circulation, democratizing audiovisual access, and social impact strategies. Activities include research presentations, case studies, and debates held at the Centro Cultural Casa do Barão de Camocim.

Other regional cultural initiatives include the Cine Ceará - Ibero-American Film Festival, which is currently accepting applications for its 36th edition. The festival features competitive categories for Ibero-American features, Brazilian shorts, and local Ceará productions, with a commitment to social inclusion and a minimum 30% participation rate for female directors.

Additionally, the Korean Film Festival (KOFF) is set to arrive in Fortaleza in August 2026, showcasing South Korean cinema including works by Park Chan-wook. Other regional highlights include the Vôti Véi! International Fantastic Film Festival in Araçatuba and the Maranhão na Tela Festival, which promotes regional filmmaking through screenings and debates.
