Moët Hennessy and Verallia partner to decarbonize glass packaging
Moët Hennessy, the wines and spirits division of LVMH, and Verallia, a major global glass packaging producer, have entered into a strategic research and development partnership to decarbonize the glass sector.
The collaboration focuses on designing new glass solutions that prioritize resource efficiency, circularity, and performance. A primary goal of the program is to develop a new generation of glass packaging that achieves a 30 to 50 percent reduction in bottle weight through advanced strengthening technologies and processes that maintain mechanical performance.
This initiative addresses the fact that glass packaging can account for up to 30 percent of the carbon footprint in the wine and spirits industry. The partnership aligns with Moët Hennessy’s environmental roadmap and Verallia’s commitment to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2040 for scopes 1 and 2, and by 2050 for scope 3.
