Mota-Engil clarifies Tepic Airport will retain Amado Nervo name
José Miguel Bejos, president of Mota-Engil México, has clarified that the Tepic International Airport will retain and highlight the name of the poet Amado Nervo following public controversy regarding a perceived name change.
Bejos explained that the omission of the poet's name during recent renovation works was an error caused by the haste of the remodeling process, rather than an intentional attempt to rename the facility to ‘Riviera Nayarit’. He issued a personal and corporate apology for the oversight.
To address protests from intellectuals, the company announced that the new terminal will prominently feature the name Amado Nervo on its facades. Additionally, the ‘Riviera Nayarit’ brand will be included alongside the poet's name as part of an international promotion strategy aimed at attracting airlines from the United States, Canada, and Europe.
