Mota-Engil ranked 55th largest construction company globally
Portuguese construction group Mota-Engil has been ranked as the 55th largest construction company in the world. According to the ‘Global Powers of Construction’ study by Deloitte, the company is positioned in the middle of the top 100 firms based on sales and market capitalization.
In 2025, Mota-Engil achieved its best annual results to date, reporting profits of 133 million euros and revenue of 5,301 million euros. Its market capitalization is estimated at approximately 1,400 million euros (1,781 million dollars). The global ranking is led by Asian firms, including China State Construction Engineering Corporation, China Railway Group Limited, and China Railway Construction Corporation.
Deloitte notes that while the sector faces challenges such as geopolitics, financing costs, rising raw material prices, and labor shortages, it is also driven by demand from urbanization, the energy transition, and the expansion of data centers for artificial intelligence. Europe remains a strong region in the sector, accounting for 40 companies in the ranking.
