Mota Engil wins 22.4 billion peso contract for Querétaro-Saltillo train

A consortium led by Mota Engil has secured a contract worth 22.4 billion pesos to design and construct a 68-kilometer section of the Querétaro-Saltillo passenger train. The specific sub-section, connecting Querétaro and San Miguel de Allende, is part of the first segment of the rail project.

The Agency of Trains and Integrated Public Transport (ATTRAPI) selected the Mota Engil group after an international bidding process involving six technical and economic proposals. The winning bid was deemed the most solvent, meeting all legal and technical requirements.

Construction is scheduled to begin on October 17, 2026, with an estimated execution period of 973 days. The project includes the development of tunnels, viaducts, stations, bridges, and railway crossings. The sub-section is designed to support speeds of up to 177 kilometers per hour to provide efficient passenger transport.
