Concacaf Central American Cup: Semifinals and Play-In Results

The Concacaf Central American Cup has entered a decisive phase with key results in the semifinals and play-in rounds. In the play-in stage, Honduras’s Marathón secured a 2-1 comeback victory against El Salvador’s Alianza at the Estadio Olímpico. After falling behind to an early goal by Harold Osorio, Marathón responded with strikes from Nicolás Messiniti and Damin Ramírez. The second leg will be held in San Salvador on October 27.

In the semifinals, Costa Rica’s Cartaginés is set to host Honduras’s Olimpia on October 21. Olimpia enters the matchup with a perfect record in the competition, having earned 18 points and already securing qualification for the 2027 Concacaf Champions Cup. Cartaginés coach Amarini Villatoro expressed confidence in his squad's ability to compete against any regional opponent.

Honduras’s Motagua is also preparing for a semifinal clash against Costa Rica’s Alajuelense. Motagua faces significant roster challenges, including the suspension of captain Cristopher Meléndez and injuries to Ricky Zapata, Romario da Silva, and Jorge Serrano, though the team expects the return of Jonathan Moya and Óscar Discua.
