Mother bakery and bar shortlisted for international design awards

Auckland-based hospitality venue Mother has been shortlisted for the 2026 Restaurant & Bar Design Awards in the Australia & Pacific – Surface Interiors category. Located in Grey Lynn, the establishment operates as a bakery during the day and a bar in the evening.

The project is a collaboration between owner-operator Hugo Baird and architectural interior design studio CTRL Space. The design concept focuses on a sense of theatre, allowing guests to observe the production processes within a compact footprint. This international recognition follows previous accolades, including a win in the Hospitality category at the 2026 New Zealand Interior Design Awards.
