Mother detained in Mexico for infant's death in Chicxulub Puerto

Karina Guadalupe C. D. has been placed in preventive detention following charges of homicide due to kinship regarding the death of her infant. The incident occurred on August 10 in Chicxulub Puerto, within the municipality of Progreso, Yucatán.

According to the investigation, the infant had been crying constantly, which allegedly led the mother to shout at and strike the child. A forensic medical report determined that the baby died from a fatal traumatic brain injury resulting from these actions.

During the initial hearing before the Third Control Judge in Progreso, prosecutors presented evidence to link the accused to the process. The defense requested a duplication of the constitutional term to resolve her legal situation, leading the judge to suspend the proceedings until August 18. The accused will remain in custody throughout the legal process.
