Mother detained in Palakkad after admitting to killing two children

A woman in Palakkad has been taken into custody after admitting to the killing of her two young children. The victims, identified as five-year-old Jennifer Juliet and her three-year-old brother Robin Christopher, were initially reported to have died from accidental drowning.

The children were discovered inside a concrete water tank at their rented home near Kozhinjampara on Tuesday morning. While the mother, Nivedya, initially claimed the children drowned while she was performing household chores, family members and neighbors raised suspicions regarding how both children could have entered the partially filled tank on their own.

Following these doubts, police transitioned their investigation from a case of unnatural death to a criminal inquiry. Nivedya reportedly confessed to the crime after being questioned about the suspicious circumstances. Authorities are currently investigating the motive and determining if any external influences or family issues contributed to the incident.
