Mother of singer Jang Yoon-jeong sentenced to 10 months for fraud

The mother of famous singer Jang Yoon-jeong, identified as Yuk, has been sentenced to 10 months in prison by the Seoul Eastern District Court for fraud.

Between September 2024 and August 2025, Yuk defrauded acquaintances of approximately 31 million won. She reportedly used her daughter's name to convince victims that the singer was also making significant profits through the investments.

The court noted that while the defendant admitted to the crimes and cited poor health and advanced age as mitigating factors, the nature of the crime was serious and the victims had not been compensated. Yuk has a prior criminal record for fraud involving 400 million won in 2018. Police had previously struggled to locate her due to a lack of digital footprints, including mobile phone and credit card usage, before her arrest in July.
