Mother seeks justice for sons allegedly bullied and assaulted at Perak school
A single mother, Noor Azwani Ahmad, is seeking justice for her two sons who she claims were victims of violence and bullying at a religious secondary school in Chemor, Perak.
According to the mother, her eldest son, an 18-year-old Form Six student, was slapped six times by a teacher on July 21 after a mobile phone inspection. The assault allegedly resulted in a dislocated jaw, making it difficult for the student to open his mouth and affecting his ability to sit for examinations. The mother claims the teacher also grabbed the student by the collar and threatened him with physical violence.
Her second son was reportedly bullied in the school hostel on August 5. The mother alleges a fellow student attempted to shave his head with a machine, leading to a struggle where the son used a fire extinguisher to defend himself. He was subsequently slapped and punched in the neck and face, resulting in bleeding and injuries.
Noor Azwani has filed police reports regarding both incidents. While the District Education Office indicated that disciplinary action against the teacher might be taken, the mother expressed frustration that the teacher remains stationed at the school.
