Mother Teresa feast day celebrated in Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina

Religious communities in Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina celebrated the feast day of Saint Mother Teresa of Calcutta on September 5.

In Podvežica, Croatia, the Parish of St. Teresa of the Child Jesus held a special celebration featuring a new large-scale statue of the saint created by sculptor Tomislav Kršnjavi. The event included a vigil and a mass led by Dean Nikica Jurić, who noted the parish's historical connection to Mother Teresa following her visit to Rijeka in 1978.

In Banja Luka, the feast was observed at the chapel of the Missionaries of Charity. The mass was led by Monsignor Ivica Božinović, who reflected on Mother Teresa's life, from her birth in Skopje to the founding of her order in India. The sermon emphasized using the saint's life as a model for daily conduct and maintaining faith during periods of spiritual or personal hardship.
