Mozaffar Hossain implicates Matiur Rahman in Ziaur Rahman assassination
During an interrogation by the International Crimes Tribunal's investigation agency, former army officer Mozaffar Hossain provided explosive testimony regarding the 1981 assassination of former President Ziaur Rahman.
Mozaffar stated that Lieutenant Colonel (Retd.) Matiur Rahman was the individual who directly shot Ziaur Rahman during the attack at the Chittagong Circuit House on May 30, 1981. Additionally, Mozaffar claimed that the then-Army Chief, Hussain Muhammad Ershad, traveled to Chittagong by helicopter on May 28, 1981, two days prior to the assassination.
Mozaffar Hossain, who was arrested in July from the Banani area, is also facing charges related to crimes against humanity during the July mass uprising. The prosecutor, Tanveer Hasan Zoha, confirmed that the interrogation lasted six hours and indicated that further questioning is scheduled.
