MotýLOVE project launches butterfly meadow initiative in Czech Republic

The MotýLOVE project has launched in the Moravian-Silesian Region of the Czech Republic, aiming to establish at least ten butterfly meadows and release at least 200 butterflies by next summer. The initiative, organized by the Počteníčko Association, focuses on environmental education and intergenerational connection by involving children, students, and seniors.

In Třinec, Třinecké železárny is supporting the project by providing land at a reclaimed landfill and preparing the soil. Local kindergarten students will raise butterfly larvae, while high school students will prepare and sow the meadows. The project also includes community activities such as a collection of mugs to be turned into Christmas gifts for seniors in care homes.

Over 40 organizations across cities including Ostrava, Havířov, Třinec, Krnov, Bruntál, and Bohumín have joined the effort. The initiative is under the patronage of Moravian-Silesian Governor Josef Bělica.
