MotoGP 2026: Ai Ogura secures first Japanese win as title race intensifies

Ai Ogura won the Dutch Grand Prix, becoming the first Japanese rider to claim a MotoGP victory since Makoto Tamada in 2004, ending a long wait for Japan in the premier class.

Four riders are still seeking their maiden wins: Spain's Pedro Acosta, who has competed in 51 races with 13 podiums; Italy's Luca Marini, the most experienced rider on the list with 94 starts and two podiums; Turkey's Toprak Razgatlıoglu, adapting from World Superbike to MotoGP; and Brazil's Diogo Moreira, whose best result so far is sixth place in Hungary.

In the championship battle, Aleix Espargaró cautioned that Jorge Martin’s biggest threat remains Marc Marquez, despite Martin leading with 193 points. Martin overtook Marco Bezzecchi (186 points) and Fabio Di Giannantonio (177 points). Ai Ogura sits fifth with 168 points, while Marquez trails by 40 points. "Saya tetap memilih Marc Marquez," Espargaró said.
