MotoGP 2026 Qatar Grand Prix faces cancellation over Middle East tensions
The MotoGP 2026 calendar lists the Qatar Grand Prix for 8 November, but the event is uncertain because of ongoing instability in the Middle East. Liberty Media has postponed any final decision until September, saying it will assess security conditions for riders, teams and fans before confirming the race.
If the Lusail circuit cannot be used, the championship could lose a round, reducing the season to one fewer race. Organisers are considering alternatives such as a double‑header at Sepang in Malaysia or using a European venue like Portimão to keep the schedule intact. Similar precautionary changes have already affected Formula 1 and the World Endurance Championship.
The situation remains under review, with the official calendar still showing the Qatar GP but no firm commitment until the geopolitical outlook improves.
