MotoGP 2027 to debut in Thailand with new 850cc bikes and Ducati lineup
The 2027 MotoGP season will open at the Chang International Circuit in Buriram, Thailand, from 5‑7 March, marking the third consecutive year the Thai Grand Prix starts the calendar. The opening race will be the first under the new 850 cc engine formula, replacing the previous 1000 cc units, with reduced aerodynamics and the removal of height‑adjustment devices. Pirelli will become the sole tyre supplier.
Ducati will field its new Desmosedici 850 cc and has confirmed Spanish rider Pedro Acosta as a factory team member alongside Marc Márquez, creating an all‑Spanish lineup for the first time. MotoGP Group CEO Carmelo Ezpeleta highlighted Thailand’s strong fan support and reliable organization as reasons for the venue’s continued role as season opener.
