MotoGP 850cc prototype testing at Brno fuels rider excitement for 2027 season

A private, closed‑door test of the new 850 cc MotoGP prototypes took place at the Brno circuit on Monday, featuring official riders and the new Pirelli tyres slated for the 2027 season. No electronic timing was used; teams relied on stopwatches and track‑side observation.

Riders from several manufacturers reported that the bikes were enjoyable to ride but still in early development. Marco Bezzecchi said the bike “looks cool, it’s fun, but it’s still early and a lot of work remains,” while Raul Fernandez added that the new machinery will bring “more excitement and dynamics” to future races. Honda’s Joan Mir and Luca Marini highlighted higher corner speeds and a different power delivery, noting that tyre management and fuel consumption could become key factors. The test also confirmed a significant performance gap between the new Pirelli rubber and the previous Michelin supply.

The session is expected to shape the 2027 MotoGP calendar, influencing qualifying importance, race strategies and manufacturer development as the sport moves toward the next generation of machines.
