MotoGP announces 2027 pre-season testing schedule
MotoGP has officially announced the pre-season testing schedule for 2027, a year that marks a major technical overhaul for the championship. The transition includes a shift to 850cc engines, reduced aerodynamics, and a change in tire suppliers from Michelin to Pirelli.
Despite these significant changes, the testing schedule has been reduced. The pre-season will begin with a one-day test in Valencia on December 1, 2026. This will be followed by a Shakedown in Sepang, Malaysia, on January 29-30, 2027, reserved for test riders and rookies. The official Sepang test for the full field will run for two days on January 31 and February 1, a reduction from the previous three-day format.
The final testing session will take place at Buriram, Thailand, on February 6-7. The official season launch is scheduled for February 21 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, with the first race of the season set for the Thailand Grand Prix from March 5-7.
Some riders, including Pecco Bagnaia, have expressed concerns regarding the limited track time available to adapt to the new 850cc bikes and Pirelli tires. However, Fabio Quartararo stated he is not concerned, believing the allotted four days of testing in Southeast Asia will be sufficient for adaptation.
