MotoGP: Aprilia and Ducati tied in manufacturers' standings after Japanese GP
The MotoGP Japanese Grand Prix has resulted in a deadlock at the top of the manufacturers' standings, with Aprilia and Ducati tied at 469 points each. While Aprilia Racing maintains a significant lead in the teams' championship with 617 points compared to Ducati Lenovo's 495, the battle for manufacturer supremacy remains highly competitive.
For Yamaha rider Fabio Quartararo, the weekend was marked by technical difficulties. After a promising start, he struggled with fuel consumption issues during the main race, forcing him to manage his throttle at approximately 70% capacity for much of the event. He ultimately finished in 12th place.
Looking toward future regulatory changes, Christian Pupulin, the current chief mechanic for Luca Marini who is set to join Quartararo's team next season, expressed skepticism regarding the planned transition from 1000cc to 850cc engines in 2027. Pupulin described the move as a “huge waste of money,” arguing that simpler solutions exist to manage motorcycle performance.
