MotoGP Assen Grand Prix: Bastianini secures sixth as Pirelli soft tyres tackle heat

Pirelli supplied soft and medium‑compound tyres for Moto2 and Moto3 at the Tissot Grand Prix of the Netherlands in Assen (June 26‑28). Because a heatwave covered much of Europe, the tyre maker said the softer compounds would provide greater grip on the hot, low‑abrasion asphalt. Rear soft tyres (SC0 for Moto2, SC1 for Moto3) were expected to be the preferred choice, while front soft (SC1) and medium (SC2) options were also available.

In the MotoGP race, Italian rider Enea Bastianini finished sixth – his best result of the season – after battling for fourth place. He said the medium‑compound tyre felt sub‑optimal in the fast corners. Brad Binder finished ninth (later re‑classified to 11th) and Maverick Viñales ended 13th after a shoulder issue. Pedro Acosta retired with a right‑arm problem. The event drew about 194,000 spectators under humid, warm conditions.
